New Painting Workshop

I am always updating my website with new course paintings so I thought I would advertise them here under this heading as and when I do them.
This painting is called 'Moonlit Serenade.' It is a Nicholas Hankins painting, taken from Series 32 The Joy of Painting. We use black gesso to create our bushes/trees in the foreground leaving a nice light area in the sky. Interestingly we paint in pebbles in the river with the gesso and when we cover it in transparent oils it gives the impression you are looking into the water creating depth. a simple by very effective painting.
